"i:DSem - Integrative Datensemantik in der Systemmedizin"

Im Rahmen von "i:DSem" sollen über einen Zeitraum von 5 Jahren interdisziplinäre Forschungsprojekte gefördert werden, in denen Mediziner, Systembiologen und Bioinformatiker mit Experten aus den Bereichen Textanalytik, visuelle Analytik, Definition von Benutzerschnittstellen sowie biomedizinische Terminologie und Ontologie zusammenarbeiten. Die hierbei erzielten Forschungsergebnisse sollen Grundlagen für Innovationen z.B. in der Software-Industrie, der Gesundheitswirtschaft oder der pharmazeutischen Industrie legen. Auf folgende übergeordnete wissenschaftliche Ziele ist diese Fördermaßnahme "i:DSem" gerichtet: - Die Entwicklung von Methoden und Werkzeugen für die inhaltliche Analyse unstrukturierter Datenobjekte mit dem Ziel, diese inhaltlich zu strukturieren und damit weitergehenden informatischen Verarbeitungsprozessen (Suche, Vergleich, Aggregation usw.) zugänglich zu machen; - Die Entwicklung von Methoden, Software-Werkzeugen und deren Infrastruktur (Systeme, Ressourcen wie etwa Ontologien); - Die Schaffung von Grundlagen für die Entwicklung zielgerichteter Anwendungssysteme für die Systemmedizin, in denen auf einer semantischen Basis strukturierte wie unstrukturierte Daten integriert und interoperabel genutzt werden; - Die Patientinnen- und Patientendaten und Simulationsmodelle auf semantischer Ebene integrieren; - Die Freitextdaten mit strukturierten Daten zur Krankheitsmodellierung kombinieren; - Die verschiedene klinische Texte von Patienten (Röntgenberichte, Pathologieberichte, Operationsberichte usw.) kombinieren, homogenisieren und auf Konsistenz und Vollständigkeit relativ zu Guidelines prüfen, etc.. Die Maßnahme ist in zwei Förderperioden, eine Entwicklungsphase und eine nachfolgende Translationsphase untergliedert. Antragsberechtigt sind Unternehmen, Hochschulen, Forschungseinrichtungen und wissenschaftliche Arbeitsgemeinschaften. Einreichungsfrist für Projektskizzen ist der 18. September 2014.

Immobilization of Mammalian Cells in Fixed Bed Reactors A universal concept for successful cell culture Fixed bed reactors for cultivation of animal cells can be applied for a variety of applications such as the production of monoclonal antibodies with hybridoma cells or proteins for diagnostic or therapeutic use with recombinant, mostly anchorage dependent animal cells, as well as for cultivation of tissue cells for artificial organs. They enable a high volume specific cell density and productivity under low shear conditions due to the immobilization of cells within macro porous carriers. PureCube Agarose XL [PDF]

Affinity chromatography is typically done with agarose beads with particle sizes of 40-150 µm. This material is very well suited for gravity flow and FPLC applications. However, for special applications, agaroses with exceptionally large bead sizes (300-500 µm in diameter) are more useful than the standard products. These include: - Automated purification using pipetting robots: Large beads sediment fast by gravity, and bead carryover and bead loss during pipetting are minimized - Purifying uncleared lysates: Residual particles do not clog the material. For quick screening, Agaroses XL can be used directly after cell lysis, without clearing the lysate by centrifugation. This procedure saves time and equipment, but results in slightly reduced purity.
